Workshop and Daily 5 News

This week we talked about

multiplicative and additive
comparisons in number
stories. Multiplicative
comparisons are comparisons involving
multiplication. You know you need to multiply
because it says times as much. Additive
comparisons involve addition. You know you need to
add because of the key word more.
We also learned what the types of triangles are
when you look at their angles. The three kinds are:
right triangles, acute triangles, and obtuse triangles.
Right angles are 90 degrees and look like a corner of
a paper. Obtuse angles are larger than right angles.
Acute angles are smaller than right angles.

This week in workshop we have been preparing for our

final project in our traditional tales unit. In this unit, we wrote
many traditional tales and had to decide which one was our
favorite. After that, we revised our story to make sure it had
all parts of that kind of traditional tale. Then we planned out
what we wanted to say to explain why our story was a
specific type of traditional tale. Then we practiced and
started recording ourselves. We are
looking forward to see the final
product made by our classes!

Cold Weather Reminder

Conferences
During conferences we talked about our goals that we set
for the school year. These goals are things we need to work
on to be better students. We also talked about our behaviors
at school and what we need to work on! Thank you parents
for coming to conferences to help us get better!

Battle of the Books!

We have made our battle teams and
started reading some of the books on
the list. Our goal is to read all of the
books on the list by November 28th
when we have classroom battles. The grade level battle will
take place on December 9th.

This week in science we learned about landforms

and what changes the land. We also learned about
Physical Weathering. Physical Weathering takes
place when ice, water, wind, and livings break down
rocks and changes the land.
Some landforms we learned
about were oceans,
mountains, lakes, rivers,
plains, plateaus, and many
more! We cant wait to learn
more about how land
changes!
