Dravidian University in Kuppam, India has decided to process M.Phil and Ph.D theses for off-campus and distance education students who were admitted before July 11, 2009, in accordance with UGC guidelines. Students admitted and paid fees before this date can continue their research under the regulations in place at the time. However, admissions and fees paid after July 11, 2009 are considered invalid, as new UGC standards for M.Phil and Ph.D degrees took effect on that date.

As per UGC guidelines 2009, Dravidian University, Kuppam has decided to
process the M.Phil / Ph.D theses of Off Campus/DDE scholars who got admitted before 11-07-2009 i.e the date on which UGC (Minimum standards and procedure for the award of M.Phil / Ph.D degree) Regulations 2009 are gazetted. Hence, the students who were admitted and paid the fee for M.Phil / Ph.D programmes prior to the said date (i.e. 11-07-2009) are permitted to pursue their research as per the regulations of UGC that are in vogue. The admissions of those who registered for M.Phil / Ph.D and paid admission fee after 11-07-2009 are treated as null and void.
