Mechanical Installation

Preparations & Unpacking

Installation Step
1. Prepare the
installation site

Carry out

OK

Clearances for cabinet access: front access, 60cm, top access, 20cm.
PRSB systems require levelled floor, capable of supporting approx.
600kg. For PRSV systems, the wall must support approx. 100kg.
Explosive atmospheres are to be avoided. Ensure suitable ventilation.
Also, 60V systems are only to be installed in Restricted Access Areas.

2. Installation tools

Always use insulated tools suitable for Telecom installations

3. Check AC supply

Ensure AC supply is the correct type, with external AC fuses and AC

input cable(s) suitably rated for the PS systems output power

4. Remove packaging
and check
equipment
5. Remove top and
dummy panels

You have received all the parts, correct cabinet, documentation, batteries
(if applicable), etc. Inspect the equipment for physical or transit damages.

6. Position and fasten

the cabinet

PRSB cabinets are floor-mounted on levelled surface. Adjust the legs if

necessary. If the cabinet must be fastened, unscrew the legs and use
suitable bolts to fasten it to the floor.
MPSUs are fastened in existing 19 or ETSI cabinets
PRSV cabinets are wall-mounted
1. Mark and level four fastening holes on the wall
2. Screw the two lower bolts halfway in the wall
3. Hang the cabinet on the bolts and tighten all four bolts

Cable entry from the top. Connection terminals are located behind the
upper dummy panels, the battery shelves (if any) behind the lower ones

7. Mount the batteries

on the shelves

Begin (when applicable) placing the batteries on the lower shelf first, and
continue upwards. Do not terminate the battery cables yet

8. Switch OFF internal

and external fuses

Switch OFF all load fuses (MCB1, MCBx), battery fuses (Fb1, Fbx) and
AC supply fuses in external fuse boards

9. Terminate AC Earth

Begin connecting the AC Earth wire (PE) to the terminals

10. Terminate
AC input cable(s)

Connect the AC input cable(s) to the terminals

Cable and terminal block labeling are to correspond.

11. Terminate
DC Earth

Check that the common DC Output Rail is connected to Telecom Earth

(TE) at only one place (at the cabinet or at a central distribution point).
Se chapter about AC, DC earthing systems

12. Terminate
DC Load cables

For each DC load, connect one of the cables to the common DC output
rail, and the other directly to the MCB or load fuse

13. Terminate
Alarm circuit cables

Connect the alarm circuit cables to the relay output terminals

See the system alarms Factory Settings

Connect the signal circuit cables to the digital input terminals

14. Terminate
Signal circuit cables Read chapter about Fail-Safe Operation Mode

For each battery shelf,

(Careful!, use correct polarity)
a. Mount 3 intercell links to connect in series 4 battery blocks
b. Connect battery cables to fuses and common DC rail
c. Connect battery cables to the shelfs outer terminals; black (+); blue (-)

16. Terminate
Symmetry cable(s)

d. Connect the symmetry cable to the input terminal (if applicable)

e. Connect the end of the symmetry measurement cable to the center
terminal of the battery string. Deviation from factory settings requires
Symmetry reconfiguration via PC and WinPower Silver
