Power Failure Report

On May 01, 2016, complete power shutdown occurred at 08:15 HRS for 20
Minutes. Power restored at 08:35 HRS by starting up and putting Perkins Diesel on
load. Breakdowns of complete shutdown are as follow:
Perkins Gas Genset tripped on low frequency.
Cat-3412 tripped on frequency and speed variation alarms i.e. Low/High
Frequency and Over speed.
Perkins Diesel Genset started and put on load immediately.
CAT-3412 inspected and started with no load. After observing frequency variations
within limit (0.5 HZ), Genset synchronized with Perkins Diesel successfully.
Perkins Gas Genset inspected and started with no load. Frequency variation
observed so Ignition timing checked with timing gun that was found OK.
After inspection of both Gas Gensets, Gensets put on load and synchronized
successfully. Frequency variation was within limits (0.5 HZ).

Shutdown Cause:
Crude pumping was started so caused extra load on Gensets as Gensets were
running on full load due to summer season.

Remedial Action:
1. Process Incharge Informed to coordinate with Engineering Incharge before
starting up of crude pumping.
2. Process Incharge also informed to avoid crude pumping during peak load
hours.
