1.0
SCOPE
1.1 This specification covers the minimum requirements for the design,
materials, manufacturing, testing and inspection of air cooled heat
exchanger.
1.2 This specification does not cover manufacturer's small standard
units such as oil or jacket water coolers normally furnished with
self-contained packaged equipment.
2.0 SELEER RESPONSIBILITY
2.1 Any conflict between the requirements of this specification and
related codes. standard, data sheets, drawings, requisition, etc,
shall be treated as the following precedence of order.

2.2 Seller shall not make assumption to replace information not
furnished by Buyer. Seller is required to obtain necessary
information from buyer or other reliable sources. Any and all
claims arising from lack of knowledge of required information will
be rejected by Buyer.
2.3 Seller shall submit a list of all appliances, special tools and
accessories that are necessary or incidental to the proper
installation, operation and maintenance of the equipment, even
these items are not included on the drawings, specifications or
data sheets.
2.4 Seller shall list and fully describe all deviations from this
specification and the related codes.
2.5 Except for requirements noted in this specification and in the air
cooled heat exchanger data sheets, the equipment supplied by the
Seller shall be designed to Manufacturer's standards and good
engineering practice.
3.0
REGULATIONS
The following documents, including applicable addenda, constitute a
part of this specification as described herein. The referenced edition
of these documents shall be that which is in effect as of the issue
date of this specification.

4.11 Louvers
4.11.1 When louvers are specified. minimum thickness for louver
blades shall be 1.5 mm for C.S. 2.3 mm for aluminum, and
for frames, 3.4 mm for C.S., 4.1 mm for aluminum.
4.11.2 Louver blade pivot pins shall be designed for their loads.
but shall not be less than 3/8 in. (9.5 mm) in diameter.
4.11.3 Louver linkages shall be designed so that equal movement
of all louver blades results from a change of actuator
position.
4.11.4 Maximum acceptable deviation is 1/8 in. (3 mm), measured
as a gap between any two blades with louver actuator in
fully closed position.
4.11.5 Maximum unsupported blade length shall be five feet six
inches (1.7 m).
4.11.6
Bearings shall be provided at all pivot points and
constructed of non- galling materials.
4.11.7 Shaft and pin bearing surfaces shall be treated and/or
coated for corrosion and wear resistance.

All shaft connections shall be attached at adjustable
linkage points by keys, splines or equivalent positive
methods. Set screw connections are prohibited.

5.3 Bolting
5.3.1 Unless indicated otherwise on the exchanger data sheets.
bolting for flange connections, cover plate for headers,
etc. shall conform to ASME Specification SA-193 Gr. B7 for
stud bolts and SA-194 Gr.2H for nuts.
5.3.2 Cover plate bolting smaller than 5/8 in (16 mm) shall not
be used.

6.2 The nameplate shall be mounted on a bracket welded to the bundle
header with a minimum of three inch (75 mm) projection form the

7.0 FABRICATION
7.1 Welding
7.1.1
Welding procedures, welder performance and welding
processes shall be qualified in accordance with ASME
Section IX.
7.1.2
Pressure holding seams, nozzle attachments and similar
joints shall be full penetration welded butt joints.
7.1.3
Backing strips may be used only with Buyer's written
approval. Consumable inserts are not classified as backing
strips.
7.1.4 All fillet welds for supports, lugs, structural steel
bracing etc. shall have continuous weld.
7.1.5 All double fillet welds in constact with a hydrogen stream
shall be vented.

CLEANING
9.1 The exchanger bundles shall be thoroughly drained, dried, cleaned
inside and outside and be free of all liquids, dirt and loose
material.
9.2 Carbon steel surfaces other than flange faces and other machined
surfaces shall have scale removed, and be cleaned of oil, grease
or other foreign matter.
9.3 All exterior machined surfaces shall be protected with a suitable
corrosion inhibitor of a type which can be removed with solvent.
The type of corrosion inhibitor shall be indicated on a tag
attached to the equipment.
9.4
Weld-end and socket-weld connections shall be coated with
deoxaluminite or Buyer approved equal, prior to adding the
protective covers.
9.5 Bolts and nuts shall be coated with a rust inhibitor.
9.6 Structural supports, side frames and beams directly supporting the
tube bundles, floor plate and ladders shall be hand or power tool
cleaned in accordance with SSPC-SP2 or SSPC-SP3.
10.0 PAINTING
10.1 Surface preparation, painting and painting material shall be in
accordance with the requirements of Job Specification No.
of
"Specification for painting"
10.2 When galvanizing in lieu of priming is require, galvanizing
specification shall be in accordance with the appropriate ASTM
Specifications.
11.0 PREPARATION FOR SHIPMENT
11.1 Equipment shall not be released for shipment until the shop test
data is approved by the Buyer.
11.2 All units shall be shipped in the as-tested condition so that no
further hydrostatic testing need be required after installation
unless otherwise specified.
11.3 The Buyer's order number and the equipment tag number shall be
prominently marked high on the side of the bay with white paint in
legible block letters as large as the equipment will permit up to
12 in. (300 mm) high.
11.4 Marking paint used on austenitic equipment shall contain no
metallic pigments or free chlorides.
11.5 Post weld heat treated parts shall be marked "PWHT -DO NO WELD."

11.6 All exposed flange faces shall be protected with gasketed covers.
Covers may be of 1/2 in. (13 mm)plywood or 1/8 in.(3 mm)steel
plate and shall be secured with a minimum of four fully sized
bolts.
11.7 Small or fragile parts shall be removed, tagged, wrapped in a
water proof material and packed in a box fastened to unit skid or
baseplate.
11.8 A packing list shall be placed both on the inside and outside of
each individual package or container.
11.9 Equipment shall be protected for at least 18 months of outdoor
storage.
11.10 Seller shall also furnish recommendations for further protective
measures to be applied by the Buyer to the equipment after its
receipt at the construction site.
11.11 All equipment supplied by the Seller shall be permanently tagged
with equipment or item numbers issued by the Buyer. Tag's shall
be non-flexible stainless steel.
11.12 Equipment item numbers shall appear on equipment nameplates,
drawings, data sheets, and on all shipping documents. Instrument
tag numbers shall appear on equipment and on all drawing and
data.
11.13 The unit shall be fully shop assembled to the maximum extent
possible.
12.0 SELLER DOCUMENTATION
12.1 Seller shall furnish all data required to complete the air cooled
heat exchanger data sheet.
12.2 Designs which are not fully defined by the nomenclature in the
Seller's catalog shall be accompanied by drawings sufficient to
describe the details of construction.
12.3 All Seller prepared drawings, documents and correspondence shall
be in the English language.
12.4 All Seller prepared drawings and documents shall be in Metric
units except flanges and pipes which shall be indicated in inches.
12.5 Seller shall state proposed dates for submittal of drawings after
receipt of Purchase Order.
12.6 Outline drawings shall be certified correct and shall show the

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
3.1 In case of conflicts in the requirement of this requisition, data
sheet, or specifications, the following precedence shall govern:

Nevertheless, any conflict shall be brought to Purchaser's

3.2 Vendor shall complete all the attached equipment data sheets,
Specification Checklist, and return along with quotation.
3.3 The quotation shall include a statement that all equipment comply
with
the
requirement
of
Purchaser's
design
data
and
specification. Deviations of design data or specifications may be
accepted, but Vendor should submit full supporting information

may cause rejection of quotation.
3.4 The proposal shall include a list of similar (i.e. applied for
same process and/or close service conditions) installation giving
rating condition, approximate date of start-up (not order or
shipping date), location, owner and mailing address.
3.5 Proto type machine and/or proto model shall not be acceptable.
3.6 Purchaser's approval on Vendor documents shall not relieve
Vendor's responsibility for ensuring that the equipment and/or
materials is in compliance with all requirements of the
requisition.
3.7 Spare Parts
3.7.1 Vendor shall submit recommended spare parts with itemized
price list for one (1) year and long-term operation
(separate list required) with quotation. The price shall be
firm within one year, and the parts shall be available to be
purchased within five years after the date of placing
purchase order.

3.7.2
Vendor shall provide Spare Parts Tabulation Form to
include:
a. Part name, number, size, material, weight and delivery.
b. Total number included, unit price, and Quantity
recommended by manufacturer.
c. Reference drawing number - include vendor reference
drawing numbers of assembly drawings on which the spare
parts appears. (The referenced drawings shall be
attached to the tabulation form.)
Special Tools
3.8.1 When special tools and fixtures are required to erection,
lifting, disassemble, assemble, or maintain the unit, they
shall be included in the quotation and furnished as part of
the initial supply of the machine.
3.8.2 For multiple-unit installations, the requirements for
quantities of special tools and fixtures will be specified
during kick-off meeting.
Protection and Packing
3.9.1 Protection & packing shall be suitable for export (for offshore equipment), export boxing required, and long term
storage
over

months.
Vendor's
standard
Procedure/Specification for Protection and Packing shall
be provided with quotation for evaluation and provided for
approval after order.
3.9.2
The composition of all wrappers and bands for surface
protection and packing directly contact to stainless steel
shall be free from sulfur, zinc, lead, copper, chlorine,
aluminum and halogen.
3.9.3 If spare parts and/or special tools are purchased together
with main equipment, they shall be packaged in separate,
rugged boxes and marked with "SPARE PARTS FOR (TAG/ITEM
NUMBER)" or " SPECIAL TOOLS FOR (TAG/ITEM NUMBER)". Spare
parts shall be tagged with part name and number, special
tools shall be stamped or tagged to indicate its intended
use.
3.9.4 Vibration sensitive, small or fragile parts (mechanical,
electrical device or instruments) shall be removed from the

(1) In case where Equipment Vendor is supplying only a single
equipment item included in a complete train (driven, driver,
gearbox). The above noise
limits shall be reduced as follow
according to train composition:
Two components, subtract 3 dB(A)
three components, subtract 5 dB(A)
four components, subtract 6 dB(A)
