WHAT IS HUMANITIES?
Humanities are academic disciplines that study human culture. In the
Middle Ages, the term contrasted with divinity and referred to what is now
called classics, the main area of secular study in universities at the time.
Today, the humanities are more frequently contrasted with natural, physical
and sometimes social sciences as well as professional training.
WHAT IS ART?

Something that is created with imagination and skill and that is

beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings

Works created by artists : paintings, sculptures, etc., that are created

to be beautiful or to express important ideas or feelings

The methods and skills used for painting, sculpting, drawing, etc.

DIFFERENT FORMS OF ART

Fine Art
Fine art is art developed primarily for aesthetics or beauty,
distinguishing it from applied art that also has to serve some practical
function. Includes: drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking.
Visual Art
The visual arts are art forms such as ceramics, drawing, painting,
sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts, photography, video, filmmaking
and architecture.
Decorative Art
The decorative arts are arts or crafts concerned with the design and
manufacture of beautiful objects that are also functional.

Applied Art
Includes: architecture, industrial-design, fashion/furnishings-design,
interior-design etc.
Crafts
Broadly synonymous with decorative arts
