2. As you compare the district and campus findings, are there any major differences? How might
you explain these? Our strongest areas tend to be different. The districts strongest areas are
Math and our campus strongest area is reading. I think this is probably the nature of being on
an elementary campus that is so focused on reading instruction. This is partially the nature of
elementary schools in general. Also with the change in the new TEKs our campus numbers
reflect this a little.
3. Write a summary paragraph for your faculty news letter that accurately depicts the status of
your campus and how it compares to the district overall. Remember that these newsletters
often get in the hands of laymen and media representatives so be accurate and professional.
Greetings from LPE!
GOOD NEWS ALERT!!! TEA (Texas Education Agency) recently released the state accountability
reports and I am proud to say that LPE once again met standard! I cant explain how hard both our
students and teachers worked this past year to assure another successful accountability rating. Our
teachers are super excited about the results and want you to know how thankful they are to have
such a supportive parent coalition behind the work we do at LPE! With this in mind however we do
have some room for growth and have established goals on Campus to make these strides this year.
We met the mark in all of the States 4 indexes but some of the rates were only be narrow margins.
Index 1 was our closest margin which was overall student achievement (met standard/didnt meet
standard). Our target number was 60 and we got a 61. With this said we do have things in place to
assure that students and teachers are aware of the need to move with the bar! District also met
standard and our results are pretty much in line with the district results. One key thing to note is
that the district margin for index 1 was comfortably above the target in index 1. What does this
mean for LPE and its students/parents? We need to assure that all students are attending school on
a regular basis and only missing instruction for necessary things. Also it is so important to keep in
mind that instruction starts at 7:20 and that each minute missed is more time a teacher has to spend
getting your student caught up with work or instruction missed. Hope you all enjoyed the summer
break and I look forward to the strides we make here at LPE! Remember make it a great day, the
choice is yours!
