Conclusion

Based on the experiment conducted, the objective on practicing drawing

Lewis dot structure of covalent compound is achieved according to the result.
From the Lewis structure, Valence Shell Electron Pair Repulsion (VSEPR) theory
was applied to visualize the 3-D relationship of atoms in a molecule or
polyatomic ion. For CH4 and CCl4, the VSEPR diagram is tetrahedral because it
has four number of electron groups. For C2H4 and BF3, the VSEPR diagram is
trigonal planar because it has three number of electron groups. For CS 2, the
VSEPR diagram is linear because it has two number of electron groups. For H 2S, it
also has two number of electron groups but it has two number of lone pairs on
the central atom. The presence of a lone pair decreases the bond angle between
the bonding pair of electrons, due to their high electric charge which causes
great repulsion between the electrons so that it will change their shape. The
shape no longer in linear, it was bending due to the presence of lone pair and the
VSEPR diagram is bent. The VSEPR occur because the presence of molecular
polarity has dipole which depends on the existence of polar covalent bonds and
can form the molecules 3-D structure.
