Classroom Management Beliefs

Classroom management is one of the most important factors in a

productive classroom. Without an effective classroom management system,
learning would be more difficult. I believe it is more important to manage
behavior rather than discipline behavior (Wong, 2009). This idea goes along
with focusing on the positives, rather than the negatives, which I also think is
important.

I will prepare a script/plan for the first day of school, which is from the

Wongs (2009).
I will implement a system of classroom norms and procedures at the
beginning of the year. If norms or procedures arent followed correctly,

a friendly reminder will be given.

I will keep the classroom atmosphere positive and encouraging.
I will catch students being good, which is an aspect of Glassers
energizing success focus and Linda Alberts Cooperative Discipline

Model (Charles & Senter, 2005).

I will mostly use intrinsic rewards to motivate children to be good and

to do good. I will use extrinsic rewards in moderation.

I will create a classroom climate that is accepting of all students. This
welcoming and comfortable learning environment gives students an
opportunity to be successful.
