3.0 TIE-IN PREPARATION
3.1. Tie-in joint shail be located and tapped by BSCC, and submit to CTCI for owner's.
final approval on all service.
3.2. All existing piping shall bo checked to ensure thal the actual wall thickness does not
fall below minimum requirement by the relevant piping material specification
3,3. All existing piping upstream of the tie-in point shall be depressurized, drained, purge,
cleared in according with specification requirement, The work shall be carried out by
contractor prior to tie-in joints work be carried out.
3.4 For the tie-in joints requiring butt-weld connection to existing line, that had_ previously
been subject to caustic service, testing should be carried out to ensure sufficient de-
contamination has taken place for a distance 10mm from the open beveled end prior
to fit-up the new piping. Chemical solution such as Phenyl Ethylene , Thymol Blue or
‘equal shall be used.
3.5 Where flange are added the bolt holes are to be orientated as the follow:
3.5.1 Flange face vertical: Bolt holes to straddle the vertical centerline.
3.5.2 Flange face horizontal : Bolt holes to straddle north-south centerline.
3.5.3 Tien flange shall be orientated same as the existing flange.
3.6 A tie-in check list shall be develop for guidelines of involve porsons. (ATTACHMENT1)
4.0 DRAWING REQUIREMENT
4.1. Tie-ins joint shall be identified on P&ID and piping ISO drawing with tie-in symbol and
numbering system.
4.2. |somettic Drawing. In addition to data normally show on isometric drawing,
4.3. Apiping tie-in list shall be prepared and issued for use by CTCI, Completed tie
shall be initialed and dated on the tie-In list, then submitted to the SK for approval
5.0 SEQUENCEING AND SCHEDULING

require 60 days in advan
and confirm 14 days in advance of a confirmed and
approved shutdown timing, Necessary safety certification must show that adequate
purging on a live line has been carried out . When the line
gasoous a cottified gas
detector must be used to verify that the required purging has been successfully
achieved.
6.0 EXECUTE
6.1. Tie-in work shall not bo started before di

into account and required signed safely certificates process
6.2. Each tie-in point must have a tapping-lype list on the tie-in lst,
6.3. Tie-in point work should be done in according with referenced procedure in according
with specification NO.000-50S-003/005.

7.0 GOLD WELD PROCEDURE
7.1 Gold welds shall be completed in one continuous operation, no stopping or cout down
shall be permitted until the weld is completely filled and capped. Typically these walds
will bo inspocted & tested as follows:
744 Continuous Visital Inspection by qualified welding inspector of wolding engineer
71.2 100% Certified and recorded Visual Inspection (and LPI) after root and hot pas
have been completed, before fill and cap.
7.1.3 100% Radiography after completion of fil and cap, Caps may bo ground smooth

7.1.3 100% Radiography after comptetion of fill and cap. Caps may be ground smoo!
to aid radiographic interpretation, but not to reduce required reinforcement.
7.4.4 100% Crack detection by MPI (for ferromagnetic materials) or LPI (for non
magnetic materials) on both the root and final pass weld deposits.
7.1.5. AILNDT of Gold Welds shall be assossed for acceptance according to the Sever
Gyolie Service criteria of ANSI B31.3. (This is the highest level in ANSI B31.3),
7.1.8 When PHWT is required, operations 7.1.3 and 7.1.4 above shall be repeated afte
7.2. Ultrasonic Testing (UT) may be used as an altomate for completed welds, when
thickness exceeds 8mm and when suitable testing procedures have been provided,
reviewed and accepted by the OWNER. UT is possible on stainless steels but special
procedures, techniques and calibration systems need to be established well in
advance of production welding. The use of UT is subject to the written approval of the
OWNER.
7.3. Welds in line classes with pressure ratings 600# and over shall also be 100%
‘examined by ultrasonic testing. Method and acceptance criteria as per ANSI B31.3
Severe Cyclic Service,
7.6 Arequest shail be made to the OWNER for each and every Gold Weld that is
proposed. This request shall include the weld location, line service, wold joint
configuration and proposed NDE to be performed. No work shall commence on any
Gold Weld until written approval form the OWNER has been received.
8.0 SAFETY PRECAUTION
8.1. Pipe systom that have held hazardous substance shall be prepared before tie-in work,
in according with ANSVAWS F4.1 and this specification
8.2. Welding on piping containing flammable shall be done in according with AP
publication 2201 and this specification.
8.3. Only qualified personnel are allowed to perform tie-in work. Qualified personnel aro
dosignated by CTCUSK. The personnel should be capable of specifying the necessary
control of protective action, or both, for the work safoty
For work above or below grade, or in congested area, provide for easy and sale
