Dear Ms. Smith
Mr. Shane Blocker, an advisor at the Dixie State University Career Center, informs me that you
are looking for an accounting specialist to work as a full-time intern at your St. George location.
My education and experience dont quite qualify me for that position, but I am hoping you will
give me a shot anyway. In May I will earn my associates degree from Dixie State University.
I have successfully completed all of my course work and prerequisites so far, while maintaining
a 3.93 GPA and making the deans list in 2015. I am expecting to get my Bachelor of
Accounting degree in Fall of 2017 from Dixie State University, and my Masters of Accountancy
from the University of Utah in May of 2019. During my prerequisites for the Udvar-Hazy
Business School I have received instruction from multiple local CPAs, including Todd Hess who
is currently an accountant at HintonBurdick.
Although I do not have any related job experience in this field, I still feel that I am a good fit for
this internship while also being helpful at your office. Two jobs of strictly manual labor have
taught me how to work extremely hard and never give up. I am a very quick learner and the long,
strenuous hours associated with tax season are something I feel I can handle professionally. An
additional job strength that I would bring to your office is my people skills. I have learned
important things about interacting with customers/clients through my previous job experience. I
am also fairly fluent in Spanish, and I do know some sign language.
