How to write a skills profile

1.1. You will need to upload your skills profile as part of your online job application via the
Redeployment Portal. Your local Human Resources contact will ask that you complete
the skills profile so you can join the service and will help you to complete it.
1.2. Your skills profile needs to provide information about your skills, knowledge, and
experience gained from your current and previous roles that will transfer across to
future roles which you may apply for. This document will market you and is the first
piece of information a recruiting manager will see on the register so it is important that
you highlight your strengths.
1.3. You will need to populate all sections of the skills profile apart from those that are
shaded in gray; your Human Resources Manager will complete these sections
although they may ask for your input.

Skills Profile:
I currently provide support to the Finance Manager, including
the preparation of schedules for management reporting. This
involves running reports from SAP and comparing to the
forecasted budget set during the planning round. I report on
any discrepancies and over/under-spends.
I contribute to management team meetings, and have
developed my presentation skills and communication skills to
enable me to communicate the financial messages effectively.
I plan my own workload, and the day-to-day work of the team. I
ensure that I am aware of key dates or events so that I can
prioritise my work effectively. I often speak with colleagues in
other Faculties to share information; these links are especially
useful if I have a particular problem that I am unable to answer
myself.
I am the team leader for three members of staff and I have
day-to-day responsibility for delegating work and making sure
