Clements High School Latin National Honor Society

Nota bene: This document is intended to be an outline of the rules and regulations of the
Clements High School National Honor Society for the 2016-2017 school year. As a result,
alterations may be made in subsequent years. It is neither limiting nor exhaustive.
2016-2017 Officers:
President: Varsha Mullangi
Vice President: Sara Rufael
Secretary/Treasurer: William Vo
Webmaster/Historian: Jason Ancheta
Officer Duties:
President
Lead meetings and help to present information
Assist in creating meeting powerpoints and planning meetings throughout the
year
Help make decisions and guide officers during officer meetings
Act as a liaison between the LNHS sponsor and its officers
Serve as a leader for club officers and members
Oversee the organization of the Latin Google Drive folder as well as the website
Vice President
Assist in preparing powerpoints for the meetings
Lead meetings in absence of the president
Present a segment of the information each meeting
Help organize events and socials
Secretary/Treasurer
Plan out and maintain a Calendar of meetings, events, competitions, and possible
future complications
Keep track of attendance during meetings
Manage LNHS dues and appropriate money for events
Manage money for club shirts
Webmaster/Historian
Document activities of LNHS through photos and videos

Manage and update website


Public efforts to market and promote the study of Latin in high school community
Lead outreach efforts
Utilize social media to accomplish marketing and promotion (Facebook)

Eligibility
In order to be eligible for Latin National Honor Society, students:
Are members in good standing of the National Junior Classical League
Maintain an A average in the current Latin course
Exemplify good citizenship
Meetings
Latin National Honor Society meetings are to be held once a month, and fall on the third Friday
of each month. The first meeting of the 2016-2017 school year is set be November 18th, 2016.
This meeting shall also serve as an introductory meeting for prospective members. The following
meeting in December shall serve as induction.
Member Requirements:
In order to remain a member and receive a cord at graduation, members must obtain a total of 25
points. Opportunities to gain points are as follows:
General Meetings- 1 point
Competitions (Rice, Area A, State)- 5 points
Tutoring- 1 point
Volunteering (Up to 5 points)- 1 point per hour
Spirit Night- 3 points
Volunteering Event- 2 points
