Shakespeare's Parents
William's mother was Mary
Arden (late 1530's-1608),
his father was John
Shakespeare (mid 1530's1601). Mary, who inherited
her father's property, was
the daughter of a wealthy
farmer, by the name of
Robert Arden. John, a
leather worker, was the son
of a tenant farmer by the
name of Richard

Shakespeare. The
Shakespeare's lives started
going downhill because of
various reasons, such as
being denied a coat of
arms, sued by creditors,.
discovered that they were
Catholic, not willing to pay
taxes, etc. Things started
looking up due to their son,
William. William's
popularity as a playwright

William's Life
Shakespeare married his wife Anne
Hathaway when he was 18. She was 26
Shakespeare and Anne had three children
together a son, Hamnet, who died in 1596,
and two daughters, Susanna and Judith. His
only granddaughter Elizabeth daughter of
Susanna died childless in 1670.
Between 1592 and 1611, William stayed in
London, away from his family
Shakespeare joined a theatre company
called "Lord Chamberlain's Men"

Died April 23rd in 1616 in Stratford.
Monument in Church of the Holy Trinity in
Stratford.
Left a will for daughter and wife
Didn't publicly publish any of his plays, but
his 2 friends - Henry Condell and John
Heminges published his plays.
