Saturday morning.

Coffee on the sofa, a few quiet moments before the kids wake
up. I hear a rapping on the window. It is Monsieur Bib, the seagull. Javier comes
in and feeds him. Monsieur Bib comes easily and takes the food chunks from his
hand. Javier is determined to make him come to his fist, so he has been trying all
sorts of tricks to entice him. He has stubbornly refused to acknowledge my
advice that it will not work. An seagull is not an eagle; its footwork does not
permit it to come easily to the fist. I hope I am wrong, but we shall see.
Felix is mad about foxes, and is a walking minefiueld when ii come to info about
foxes. Ask him what ..he will tell you..
So my kids are into wildlife and yes, climbing trees. My wife has warned me not
to post any pics of them climbing trees because it will scare people. But felix
says he love trees and Javier wants to learn to talk to trees. I told him it was easy.
Go and sit on one.
Of course they ask about Goa. Unlike their cousin from England, mine have never
been to Goa. They have heard so much about the birds, the snakes, the crocs,
the hills, it is in many ways more home to them than England or even Spain.
They are both learning Hindi. (Their request, not mine)
And then I read the news. Coconut trees are grass, peacocks are vermin. What
are we doing.how can we e rid of these bufooons that came with this. Why
doesnt someone go up to the forest minister and tell him. Sir, maybe you think
peacokcs should be classified as vermin. But really, the true vermin is you. You
have got into to the land and are coausing it to rot. How does one get rid of
mvermin.
In the old days, we used to buy DDT and dose the coconut trees with it. Then
they told us that it was dangerous. And to use BHP. Then we were told that was
also dangerous. Anyway, th trees have been trhough a lot. The worm that eats
and fells the tree from the inside. But sadly, this is the worst pest yet. Shall we
call them the pesticide BJP.

I am beginning to think that writing is not such an easy job. In fact its bloody
irritating. Here I am trying to write a fe honest lines. And they refus to come. A
