TCH235-- Clinical Experience

Lesson Plan 11/1

Objective
The student will be able to distinguish the differences between first and third person
points of view through reading a passage.

Rationale
To provide the student with an opportunity to practice understanding the point of
view of different characters in a text and finding contexts clue to lead them to that
decision.

Materials Needed
Passage
Colored Pencils
Paper

Introductory Activity
Ask the student about how his point of view test went. See if there are any initial
clarification questions I can answer immediately.

Procedures for the Lesson

1.Introduce the activity and explain why we are practicing point of view
2.Explain to the student the passage we will be reading and why
3 Read the passage out loud as I look over and help him to correct different miscues
4.Instruct the student to answer questions about the passages
5.Direct the students attention to the blank piece of paper and have him draw out
the different points of views in the passage. While drawing we will talk about the
reasons why this point of view is the point of view conveyed in the story (either first
or third).

Evaluation of the Learner

I will not be using formal evaluation. Instead I will pay attention to the answers the
student gives to me when I ask him questions to be sure he understand the
concept. If he does not give me correct answers I will help to guide him to correct
answers and show him why the answer he provided was incorrect. Any questions
he asks me at any point in the lesson will also be answered.
