LECTURE 11

SMALL SIGNAL CIRCUITS

This lecture talks about small signal circuits. And from our previous lesson,
Small Signal notation: VA = VA + va, where VA is the total signal and VA is the DC
Bias or the operational point and va is the small signal or the incremental signal.
From our previous lessons we discussed large signal circuits. From large
signal circuits we can derive small signal circuit equivalent model for our devices,
and then conduct small signal analysis directly on circuits. In doing this, there are
three points to consider.
1. The first one is to find the operating point using DC bias inputs using
large signal model.
2. Develop linearized small signal models for elements.
3. Replace original elements with small signal models.
The key in doing this is by using superposition and other linear circuit tools
with linearized circuit.
