2016ITDevConnectionsEventGuide Final
2016ITDevConnectionsEventGuide Final
Theres a perception in
the industry that
conferences have to
be big, loud, and
overwhelming were
changing that.
Weve always stood proud behind the IT/Dev Connections strong community and are
extremely honored to take suggestions and feedback very seriously. To that end, the
changes this year are to allow us to deliver to you an even richer community and
networking experience, yet retain the highest satisfaction for deep-dive technical
learning.
The first change youll notice is that weve eliminated keynotes entirely. Why? Wellif
youve attended a vendors mega-event recently, you know that keynotes have
essentially been hi-jacked and turned into pure marketing presentations. By
eliminating keynotes, we are proudly separating ourselves from the big vendor
circuses. Instead of kicking off the conference week with a keynote, we are kicking it off
with a community event. The conference kick-off event is Monday, October 10th from
6:00pm-9:00pm.
Secondly, this year weve moved Birds of a Feather (BoF) sessions into their own time
slots and track. These types of sessions are hugely important, not only for networking
but also for squeezing that extra bit of value out of the week. I suspect there may be
many more burning questions answered during these BoF events. Our BoF time slots
are as follows:

C&D
The Cloud and Datacenter track provides IT Pros with the intelligence they need to integrate Cloud operations with their
current environment. Our speakers understand the importance of threading Cloud technologies into normal routines
to ensure a Hybrid model that is sound, valuable, and just the right fit for the organization. Sitting in these sessions, you
will learn when to incorporate the Cloud and when not to, ensuring the best mix for the business, for the end-users, and
for the IT infrastructure. In addition to diving deep into the available Cloud-based technologies, you will learn how to
troubleshoot and resolve problems from the most common to the most frustrating. Topics include Hybrid Cloud, Azure,
AWS, Rackspace, Google, and Cloud-Based Management.
COMMUNITY
COMM
One of the biggest benefits of in-person events like IT/Dev Connections is the ability to connect with other attendees
working in comparable environments with similar products, in parallel industries, or just in similar situations. We believe
community and networking are key to unlocking value and it remains one of IT/Dev Connections strongest assets. Our
Community track highlights our commitment to ensuring attendees dont get lost in the crowd. The sessions in this
track guarantee opportunities for professional connections and the construction of a support network that makes the
value of IT/Dev Connections last all year long.
DBI
The sessions offered in the Data Platform and Business Intelligence track provide Data Professionals insights into
managing and scaling their Microsoft SQL Server resources securely and at a high level of performance whether those
data resources are on-premises or residing on Microsoft Azure. Data - and specifically insights drawn from data - are
the lifeblood of todays corporations, health service providers, governments, and organizations. In addition to sessions
geared towards stewards of data for these entities the Data Platform and Business Intelligence track places you in the
room with leaders in the areas of both Business Intelligence and Business Analytics. Hadoop, HDInsight, Azure Machine
Learning and Power BI are re-defining Business Analytics for the next generation of business leaders and youll be learning and engaging with the individuals driving these changes. Topics include on-premises database, Cloud database, BI,
Machine Learning, Hadoop, and IoT.
DEV
The Developer and DevOps track is a rare mix of the latest and greatest development technologies and frameworks and include both Microsoft as well as the Open Source Stack. The technologies include but are not limited to
HTML5, .NET, Java, Node.js, Javascript (frameworks and core), Mobile (iOS, Android etc), Office 365, Docker, Universal
Apps, No-Sql databases (like Cassandra, MongoDb, Riak, Elasticsearch etc), Big Data (Hadoop, HDInsight, Hive, Pig,
Terradata), Cloud (development technologies on Azure, AWS), ASP.NET, Web APIs, Angular, React, Aurelia and other
Javascript Frameworks. Our speakers are handpicked as the best developers in the industry, following the Agile
methodology of development.
ENTERPRISE COLLABORATION
EC
The Enterprise Collaboration track spans the many facets of Microsoft collaboration technologies including the
cloud and on-premises versions of SharePoint and Exchange as well as the new technologies coming through Office
365 such as Office Graph, Delve, and Yammer. Microsoft has a major competitive advantage in its ability to support
hybrid deployments and these are covered in detail too. Sessions are available to answer the questions of architects,
administrators, and programmers. The session content has been chosen to be practical, up-to-date, and focused on
solving real-life deployment and management problems. This track includes topics like Office 365, Exchange, Skype
for Business, Yammer, and SharePoint.
EMMS
SOL
The Enterprise Management, Mobility, and Security track is filled with some of the most pertinent information for IT
organizations today. Faced with a workforce that wants to be highly mobile, IT Pros need to get up to speed quickly and
efficiently to ensure that the environment is functional, secure, and completely managed. Our speakers have the experience and knowledge to deliver deep technical information in this important area and still help solve the philosophical
question about how to implement and manage a PC on every desk and a device in every hand in the most secure and
business-protective way. Topics include on-premises System Center, Configuration Manager, Windows 10 management
and deployment, Windows Server 2016, Intune: Device Enrollment and Management (Windows, Android, iOS).
SOLUTIONS
Our first year for the Solutions track, this track showcases our sponsors offerings through interactive, solutions-based sessions. Not your normal board-room sales pitch, our sponsors understand your woes and deliver
deep-dive content to show how their solutions can solve your toughest problems quickly and efficiently.
