Question1:

To demonstrate the resource scheduling process for a resource constrained scenario using the
parallel heuristic and the priority rules given below, two critical assumptions are made.
(1) No splitting activities are allowed, i.e., once an activity is placed on the schedule; it
will be worked on continuously until it is finished.
(2) The resource level used for an activity cannot change.

Use the following heuristics:

(a)

Minimum Slack

(b)

Smallest Duration

(c)

Lowest Identification Number

This gives us an ES resource load chart as follows:

Question 2: You have prepared the following schedule for a project in which the key resources is a tractor.
There is no resource constraint in this project. However the project must be completed on time
(ie. within 12 weeks). You are interested in smoothing by leveling the resources. First depict the
present situation graphically, and then apply suitable leveling technique thereby smoothing the
resource utilization.

First draw the present scenario by taking resources at the vertical axis and time at the horizontal
axis.
Redraw the graph by making suitable adjustments in resource utilization, and see if the following
objectives could be met.
(a) The peak of demand for the resource was reduced.
(b) Resources over the life of the project have been reduced.
(c) The fluctuations in resource demand were minimized.

Question3:

Giventhefollowing project network, baseline, and status information, develop status reports
for periods 14 and complete the project summary graph. Report the final SV, CV, CPI, and
PCIB. Based on your data, what is your assessment of the current status of the project?

Question 4:

Your company has just received an order from a good customer for a specially
designed electricmotor. The contract states that, starting on the ninth day from now,
your firm will experiencea penalty of $100 per day until the job is completed. Indirect
project costs amount to $200 per day.Consider the following network diagram and
the table that follows.
