Engagement/ Activating Prior Knowledge: Reminder of brief explanation
provided about Paradise Lost.
Anticipatory set- (time: 10)
Exploration: PowerPoint presentation on Paradise lost providing background
and a summary.
Essential Question(s)- Why would Mary Shelley choose this Epic Poem?
Building Inquiry Skills- Students may wonder if Mary Shelley intended
Frankensteins monster to mirror Satan or Adam.

Instructional Activities/Providing Information: (time: 40) Gen-ed: Will create a


found poem using their books, but it must demonstrate a theme shared by both
texts.
Honors: Will read an excerpt from Paradise Lost and create a found poem using
that text, but it must demonstrate a theme from Frankenstein.
Modeling: Reading Excerpt and Clarification; Explain found Poetry
Guided Practice: N/A
Independent Practice: Create their found poems.
Explanation: Paradise Lost is a major allusion in this novel and was a major influence
as well. It is the perfect way to practice comparing texts.

Interdisciplinary Approaches:
Elaboration: Co-Teacher in 4th hour - he will assist in presenting the
material and modeling found poems for that class.
