The Presidential Debates Are Here

After a heated, scandalous, ugly two weeks, the first Presidential debate is
about to commence on 7 November, 2016 at 8:00 am between Democratic
candidate Karina Lopez and Republican candidate Jenna Davis. These two
will be bombarded with questions by interest groups, news reporters, and
bloggers from both parties. They are expected to answer fully and clearly.
Throughout this campaign, the candidates platforms could not have been
more distinct. Lopezs side has focused majorly on pro-choice, respect and
tolerance, human rights, and LGBTQ+ rights. Daviss campaign focused on
pro-life and guns. These decisions have shaped the campaigns and parties
and will likely cause the candidates to bring different attitudes to the debate
on Monday, as it has happened in previous presidential debates.
Some things to watch for are:
-Fact-checks: We will be fact-checking after the debate
-Attitudes: The attitudes of the candidates greatly affect their voter turnout
-Speeches: Will the candidates bring passion to their speeches and
answers? Will they speak in slang?
-Confidence: Both candidates must be confident in their answers if they
want to attain presidency
Taking a look back:
Taking a look back at the campaigns is also important when voting for the
future president of the United States. Voters must look back at the past two
weeks of the campaign and decide

wisely. So, what h

as happened in the
past two weeks?

Contradictions: One of Daviss main slogans is that she works for the
protection of children, hence her endorsement by Pro-life interest groups.
Yet she inferred in her stump speech that immigrant children coming from
third world, impoverished, and war-ridden countries are not important,
stating that we must send those children back and American children
first. These statements are greatly prejudice. After all, these are children
who are slain every day in their original countries. They cannot simply be
sent back as Davis has stated. There is no difference between immigrant
and american children other than their title. So, Davis cares about children,
but only if theyre American.
Scandals: Though a so-called scandal emerged in Lopezs campaign, it
was reasonably explained with evidence and undeniable confirmations.
Daviss scandal was also reasonably explained, but her huge smile and
thumbs up in seeming support for democrat nominee Julian Garcia still
haunts many die-hard republicans and may have an impact on her voter
turnout.
It is very important to vote- and we here at LLN fully advocate voting- but a
mature voter must keep all these in mind when voting.
