Program Manager for Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)
Project

Full-time, regular travel throughout Armenia required

Basic Function of Position


Under the supervision of the Director of Programming and Training (DPT), the TEFL Program
Manager (PM) oversees Peace Corps Armenias TEFL project. The PM provides continuous
management and support of Peace Corps trainees and volunteers, oversees the training design and
components for the TEFL Certificate through the 27-month Peace Corps Volunteer (PCV) cycle,
identifies and develops school/university placements, and develops and maintains relationship with
local and national school partners. Additionally, s/he retains PCV records and is responsible for TEFL
project monitoring, reporting and evaluation.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: University degree, equivalent to a Bachelors Degree in Education or Teaching or related
field
Prior Work Experience: Four (4) years or more of program management or teaching experience
Language Proficiency: Level 4 language proficiency in both English and Armenian, according to the
Interagency Language Roundtable http://www.govtilr.org/.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:
Knowledge of Armenian education system and national priorities
Training and experience in program management, design, and Monitoring & Evaluation
Experience working with U.S. citizens and knowledge of American cultural attributes
Experience organizing and facilitating trainings or events for diverse groups of people
Significant skills in time management of self and others
Attention to detail and ability to remain calm under pressure is essential
Courteous, attentive, and able to give and receive both positive and constructive
feedback
Collaborative and works well in teams
Competency in using the Internet, basic word processing software ,and other general
office IT systems
Ability to travel extensively within Armenia
Ability to pass a background check conducted by the United States Embassy
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Masters degree, preferably in English Education, TEFL, or another related field.

Prior Work Experience: Six (6) years or more of program management and teaching experience,
preferably TEFL
Language Proficiency: Level 5 language proficiency in both English and Armenian, according to the
Interagency Language Roundtable http://www.govtilr.org/.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:
Knowledge and extensive experience working with Armenian education system in districts
across the country
Experience in TEFL teaching or English education experience, with national and local
contacts and knowledge of TEFL/English priorities and projects in Armenia.
Extensive supervisory experience for diverse groups of people;
Extensive experience in program management, design, and Monitoring & Evaluation
