Optum G2 is a comprehensive finite element program for geotechnical stability and deformation

analysis. Its modern graphical user interface ensures an intuitive and efficient workflow. The computational core builds on state-of-the-art numerical algorithms that lead to an unprecedented efficiency
and robustness independent of the complexity of the model.
Analysis
The analysis types offered Optum G2 include:
+ Limit analysis: fast and rigorous evaulation of upper and lower bounds on bearing capacity
+ Strength reduction: fast and rigorous evaulation of upper and lower bounds on factor of safety
+ Elastoplastic analysis: fast and accurate analysis using a variety of constutitive models
+ Seepage analysis: general saturated/unsaturated seepage
+ Initial stress analysis: unqiue approach for calculating in-situ stresses for complex geometries
+ Staged construction: convenient and intitutive sequencing of construction stages
Features
Special features facilitating an accurate and convenient modelling include:
+ Structural elements: for the modeling of walls, anchors, geotextiles, soil nails, etc
+ Shear joints: for modelling of interfaces, cracks and joints
+ Adaptive remeshing: for all analysis - maximizes accuracy while minimzing computational time
+ Materials library: comprehensive library of materials, sheet piles, and other structural elements
+ Automatic seepage analysis: seepage analysis is included as a standard feature of all analyses
+ Design approaches: in-built functionality for analysis and design to Eurocode 7
Soil and Rock Models
Constitutive models for soils and rock include:
+ Mohr-Coulomb: the classic benchmark model with enhancements including in-built fissures
+ Hoek-Brown: the state-of-the-art model for fractured rock masses
+ Modified Cam clay: for soft soils
+ Extended Mohr-Coulomb: accurate and user friendly for model hardening soils
Typical applications
Optum G2 is used for a wide range of geotechncial analyses including:
+ Slope stability: fast and rigorous evaulation of bounds on stability number of factor of safety
+ Foundations: Bearing capacity and settlements
+ Retaining systems: strength reduction analysis for factor of safety evalutation
+ Excavation: deformation and stability analysis with seepage, structural elements, short/long term
+ Embankment construction, tunneling, long wall mining, rapid drawdown, and much more
