Genotox Laboratories utilizes 80 M, Spice, ETG & ETS preparation methods and LC/MS/MS Identification and provides a quick
sample turnaround for clinicians, regarding controlled substance medication monitoring programs. Immediately hired on to aid
primarily the Toxicology Department in preparation for an external COLA audit. Promoted the first week to Acting QA officer.
Q/A, Safety and HIPAA Compliance Officer: Genotox Laboratories, Austin TX. Directly involved with preparation, active
audit and final corrections and correction reports. The best audits are regular flawless audits creating a non-stressed Director.
Directly supported the Toxicology Department in efforts to identify traces of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in traces of
ETG & ETS, Spice and 80 M drugs in human urine, through the facilitation of preparatory testing methods using
identification LC/MS/MS instruments. I am proud of my accuracy. A false positive would have detrimental results.
Tracked calibrations deadlines of a variety of instrumentations, hoods, pipettes, specimens and reagents. My
attention to detail ensures accuracy. I took it upon myself and brought in Fresh-Loc Inc. to bid on 24 hr temperature
& humidity monitor system. Prior to Genotox, with fresh-loc alarm I was able to rush at 1 a.m. prevent loss of costly
reagents in several labs. I also brought Orchard/Harvest Inc. to bid on new Laboratory Information System (LIMS).
Implemented the new Globally Harmonized System (GHS) and provided intensive training to all lab personnel I
strictly monitored hazardous biological material and chemical waste for safety and in attempts to lower cost.
Designed a series of training documents including the Proficiency Corrective Action Form, Competency Form and
Specimen Referral Form for laboratory managers to ensure activities were executed safely and efficiently and
initiated a Specimen Tracking Form which documented specimen status from beginning to end of the testing process.
Tracked and analyzed package inserts for all chemical products ensuring compliance CLIA, COLA, and CAP policies.
Conducted safety tours for new hires and demonstrated the use of the standard emergency laboratory equipment,
emergency exit plan, and providing basic training on blood-borne pathogens, hazardous waste disposal and HIPPA
regulations, special concern patient identification. Genotox a start-up lab under COLA; Always, I saw a task, I did it.

Monitored daily, monthly, yearly 9-12 Perkin Elmer Atomic Absorption Spectrometers (AAs) performance via
Statistical Evaluations from QC and Proficiency Specimens. Monitored Validation studies and ALL responsibilities.
Managed the Lead Screening Laboratory Inventory and Budget representing approximately $300 K + in
consumables and $150K in instrumentation. I kept only limited supplies. Bought only needed items @ end year.
Served on the Sweeny and Murphy Award Committee, responsible for reviewing documentation and reaching a
collective decision on the most-deserving of these prestigious awards, based on efforts of 100s of Scientists
throughout the collective Texas State Laboratories. Honored to be nominated for the Murphy Award in 2008.

Notable Accomplishments & Responsibilities:
Transitioned to become the Section Chief of Lead Screening, managing all aspects of the laboratory, more hands on
staff management: hiring, training, mentoring and evaluations of Chemists Proud to have a strong team of Chemists.
Hiring Supervisors understood that Chemists from Lead Screening went above and beyond. Additionally responsible
for all aspects for the 9-12 Perkin Elmer Spectrometers including al maintenance, everything. 1 year ND study.
Encouraged Pb (test lab) staff involvement in H5N1 influenza outbreak, New Laboratory Information System (LIMS).
Configuration and validation and again I approached staff to interview for new associated positions. My mentor e.g.
my professional growth; Director of Bio-Chemical & Chemical Homeland Security Division. EQ & IQ Unit Director.
With the QA Dept.s. Approval discontinued the use of Erythrocyte Proto-porphyrin analysis, saved tax payer money.
Served two years on the QA committee, auditing all the Lab Unit laboratories and addressing any QA issues..
First Chemist III involved in the validation of all AAs, other duties: final release of specimen results responsibility to
provide in-depth operational training and testing throughout the entire Clinical Chemistry rotational operation system
identifying symptoms of syphilis using RPR procedure. Performed gel-electrophoresis to detect sickle cell anemia.
