Problems:
1. Two balls having radii of 6 inches and 4 inches respectively are placed
in a cylindrical container of diameter 18 inches and a depth of
24inches. If the container will be filled with water, determine the height
of water just enough to cover the two balls.
2. Find the radius of a circle inscribed in a regular pentagon of side 24
inches.
3. Determine the length of the belt that passes around two pulleys of radii
18 and 12inches respectively whose distance between their centers is
34 inches.
4. A composite figure consists of a regular isosceles trapezoid (nonparallel sides equal) whose lower base is 6 inches and a segment of a
circle. If the non-parallel sides are tangents to the segment at points A
and B, find the area of the composite figure.

SITUATION:
Shown in figures below are circular arcs with center at each corner of the
square and radius equal to the side of the square.
5.

Find the area as shown in figure 3.

6. Find the area as shown in figure 4.
7. Find the area as shown in figure 5.
8. Find the area as shown in figure 6.
9. Circular arcs of radii 10 cm are drawn inside the circle of radius 10 cm.
The centers of each arc are on the circle and so arranged so that they
are equally distant from each other (pls see figure 2).
10.
Find the area of the five pointed star inscribed in a circle of radius
20cm.

11.
A volume of 23 cubic centimeters of water are poured into a
conical vessel and it reached a depth of 12 cm. How much water must
be added so that the depth will reach 18 cm?

12.

A sphere of radius 4 cm rests in a conical wine glass whose semi-

vertical angle is 200. If the wine glass is 22cm high, determine the
volume of wine in the conical wine glass just enough to touch the
bottom of the sphere.
13.
A piece of wood as shown in figure 3 is in the formed of a
prismatoid. If the bases of the prismatoid (rectangle ABCD & triangle
EFG) are parallel planes, determine the area of the wood.
14.
A railway cut 200 feet long and 30ft wide at the bottom is made
with sloping sides, which are 80 ft and 60 ft in length. The 80 feet side
is inclined 450 and the other side is inclined 300 to the horizontal. Find
the cost of removing the earth at $2 per truck load if the truck has a
capacity of 4 cubic yard.
15.
A conical tank of height 8 ft and radius of 3 ft is filled with water
at 5 ft deep. If the tank will be inverted upside down with cover on top,
what will the expected height of water be?
