These objectives are appropriate for this age group because the grade of
the music fits with their skill level. This is also challenging because it
constantly makes the students perform on their instruments to help get
them more comfortable since they are beginners.

7th and 8th grade

o

The objectives of this seventh and eighth grade band unit were to prepare and
rehearse for the Christmas concert as well as region band. I designed this unit to help
add important music characteristics to the region solos as well as concert literature
to help improve overall performance.

These objectives are appropriate for this age group because the grade of
the music literature fits their skill level and the students are at that age
where they can understand these types of concepts. They also are
challenging because these pieces test the students on articulation and
instrumental range.

High School
o

The objective of this High School unit is to understand key signatures and how to
spot them in a piece of music. This will help the students perform better on their

upcoming Christmas concert as well as their upcoming region band audition.

challenging because it requires the students to critically think about
what notes are in the time signatures that are written.
