This request is being handled under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
Your request is:

I would like to know how much money has been spent on the two unserpasses in macclesfield mainly
gas road and lower park lane of macclesfield. I wouldlike to know how much has been spent on lighting,
trimming of the bushes and camera updates or add ons.
Response:
This request refers to two separate projects in Macclesfield the Cheshire East Council Waters Project,
and Macclesfield Town Councils Brick Project at Park Lane.
This FOI response relates ONLY to the Cheshire East element the Waters project the regeneration
of the Waters Green Underpass and Middlewood Way.
A separate FOI would need to be issued to Macclesfield Town Council, (c/o Pete Turner, Town Clerk,
Macclesfield Town Council, Macclesfield Old Town Hall, Market Place, Macclesfield, SK10 1EA) for
information relating to the Brick Project. Cheshire East Council do not hold this information.
The Waters Project in Macclesfield has been jointly funded, and in partnership, with various funding
streams, and in conjunction with several Organisations and Companies.

The funding that has been used to improve and enhance the Waters Green Underpass and Middlewood
Way area has come from:

Cheshire East Council Capital funding of 75,000


Section 106 funding of 48,743
Cheshire East Cultural Development Team funding of 7,000
The Cheshire Police Crime Commissioner funding of 5,000
Cheshire East Highways funding of 8,227.23
Network Rail contribution of 7,500
Tesco Bags of Help award of 10,000
Total funding of 161,470.23

This funding has contributed to:

The installation and associated infrastructure of two new CCTV cameras


Significant soft landscaping works removal of trees/shrubs/clearance of overgrown
areas/embankment clearing/improvement to the Middlewood Way landscaping/creating wildlife
attractors and to create clear natural lines of sight to enhance safety.
Significant hard landscaping works remodelling of walkway and walls to enhance vision that
improves safety through clear natural lines of sight/removal of overgrown and damaged stone wall
flowerbeds/replacement damaged concrete flags/repair of walls.
A thorough deep clean of the area.
Additional cobbles/underpass clean.
Clearance of items fly-tipped in the River Bollin.
Significant graffiti removal of the area.
The painting and restoration of all street furniture including bollards, railings, lanterns etc.
The painting and restoration of both Network Rail bridges, including the installation of pigeon
spikes to protect pedestrians.
Existing lanterns repaired and upgraded to low cost LED lighting.
Replacement lanterns.
The installation of programmable LED lighting to greatly increase night time vision and safety.
The installation of a public art scheme following several consultations showcasing Macclesfields
Waters Green heritage to enhance the area.
