The anthurium flower is also known by the more


descriptive name of flamingo flower. it is a subtropical plant
that has large, heart-shaped green leaves. The flower,
which grows on a tall stem, is a deep pink color that
resembles a flamingo. In warm climates, the plant will
bloom year-round, with each bloom lasting for
approximately six weeks before falling off. Propagation of
the anthurium plant is easily done by taking a cutting.

Instructions
Locate an existing anthurium plant to take a cutting from. Use pruning shears to cut off
a length of one stem that is at least 6 inches long. Choose a stem that has two to three
sets of leaves on it.
Fill a 10-inch diameter clay plant pot 3/4 full with a well-drained potting soil. Choose a
pot that has drainage holes in the bottom of it.

Create a hole in the center of the soil that is 2 to 3 inches deep. Y ou can use your finger
or another object such as the handle of a garden spade to create the hole.
Stick the cut end of the anthurium cutting all the way into the hole and fill in the hole
with additional potting soil. If the lower leaves of the cutting sink into the hole or touch
the soil, pull them off using your fingers.
Water the soil until it is saturated. Thereafter, water the soil at least every other day and
do not let the top layer dry out. Anthuriums typically grow in rain forests, and thus
