a) Convert 4 minutes and 30 seconds into seconds.
b) Calculate how fast, in meters/second, Sally will have to run to equal the

c) If Sally wanted to run 10 seconds faster than the school record, how much
faster would she have to run?
d) Calculate the time, in minutes, Sally would take to complete the 1500m race
if she were to run at 4m/s.

3. Emma and Kat were training for their school sports day carnival for the 800m
run. Emma always thought she was fitter than Kat, while Kat always thought she
was fitter than Emma so they decided to conduct an experiment to see who was
fitter. Both Emma and Kat wore heart rate monitors and recorded their heart rate
at rest before running 800m, immediately after exercise and then every 30
seconds after exercise for 3 minutes. Emmas recordings were 70, 182, 178, 170,
150, 130, 115, 100 bpm. Kats recordings were 77, 185, 180, 176, 170, 160, 150,
140. It took both Emma and Kat 3 minutes to run 800m.
Using the data above, set out a table to compare Emma and Kats heart rate.
