INSTRUCTIONS FOR SCORER


The home school shall be the official scorer. However, by mutual
agreement of opposing coaches or by state high school association
adoption, the official score may be kept by the head referee. The
official scorer shall:
(a) Verify each teams complete lineup (first and last name, number and position of each player and substitute) is submitted at least
5 minutes prior to the game time;
(b) Record all scores;
(c) Record the number and reason for all players cautioned and
disqualified;
(d) After a substitute has reported to them, have the timer signal
to the officials the first time the substitution is possible;
(e) Obtain the head referees verification of the score.
NOTE: By state association adoption, a reserve official may be appointed to
assume the duties of the scorer. The reserve official is under the jurisdiction
of the head referee.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TIMER


The home school timer shall be the official timer. However, by
mutual agreement of opposing coaches or by state high school
association adoption, the official time may be kept by the head
referee. The official timer shall use a timing device which is visible.
The official time may be kept on a stadium clock.
The timer shall:
(a) Start the timing device when the ball is put in play and stop the

timing device when signaled to do so by the official for an


injury, for a penalty kick, for a caution, for a disqualification,
following the scoring of a goal and when an official orders time
out.
Signal to the officials when substitutions are to be made;
Count down verbally the last 10 seconds of each period of play
to the nearest play.
Be aware of the position of the ball when it becomes dead;
Signal when time for a period has expired;
Signal 2 minutes after the end of the first and third quarters
when applicable;
Signal 2 minutes before the end of the interval between the
first and second halves.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ASSISTANT REFEREES


The two assistant referees are required when only one referee is
administering the game. They shall assist the referee by indicating
a raised flag overhead when and where the ball goes out-of-bounds
and in other matters assigned by the referee.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR BALL HOLDERS


Two ball holders shall be provided by the home team. The holders
are under the direct supervision of the officials. Duties include
retrieving balls which cross boundary lines and carrying extra
game balls.
