1. Consider problem 11-5 in the text. If the pipe is Schedule 40 2-inch steel pipe, available in 40foot lengths, how many pipes are needed? Would you recommend to place the pipes end-to-end,
or in parallel? Why?
Answer the following questions related to problem 11-5 for two scenarios: one case, in which no inert
is fed, and another case in which the inert is fed at a rate I = 2.
2. Plot the conversion and reactor temperature as a function of reactor volume V. Report the exit
values for each.
3. Plot the reaction rate rA as a function of reactor volume and discuss.

4. Plot the rate of heat required for isothermal operation Q as a function of reactor volume V, and
discuss.
5. What is the effect of adding inert? List all advantages, and list all disadvantages of doing so.
