Exercice n 2.- In a hotel, three groups of travellers meet: 40, 56 and 72 in each group. The
waiter wants to organize the restaurant so that in each table there have to be the same
amount of people, trying to have as many travellers of the same group in each one. How
many people will eat in each table?

Solution:

M.C.D. (40, 56, 72) = 23 = 8 travellers in each table

Exercice n 3.- A frog runs doing jumps of 60cm chased by a cat that is doing jumps of
90cm. At what distance do the cats and the frogs footprints coincide?

m.c.m. (60, 90) = 22 32 5 = 4 9 5 = 180 cm.

They coincide every 180cm.

Exercice n 4.- An electrician has three rolls of cable 96, 120 and 144 meters in length. You
want to cut them into equal pieces of the greatest length possible, without leaving any
remaining pieces. How long will each piece have?
Solution:

M.C.D. (96, 120, 144) = 23 3 = 24cm each piece.


Exercice n 5.- What is the capacity of the smallest possible tank that can be filled with an
exact number of 12, 16 and 18 litter drums, respectively?
Solution:

m.c.m. (12, 16, 18) = 24 32 = 16 9 = 144 L
