This document discusses different perspectives on the death penalty from a case involving the murder of relatives. While some families found closure from their loved ones' murderers facing trial and justice, another family never received closure as the case went cold without a trial. This led that family to view the murderer as non-human and support the death penalty as a way to see justice done, having learned to dehumanize the killer for lack of a trial or closure.

I found very interesting the different perspectives about death penalty
which ultimately represent a difference in morality. Kelle and Hansen had closure on their relatives death. The murders faced trial and justice was reached. Though seeing it from Ricketts perspective, I would understand why he would be pro-death penalty; the murdered of his cousin had never had a trial, the murder went into a cold case, thus Rickett has never had closure. This can be taken into the perspective that Rickett views the murderer not as a human. Therefore, he would want the death of this person, as he would want the death of any murderer, because he learnt how to dehumanize them.
