MRS. PAUGHS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

What did we learn this week in Room 220?

Students had a week filled with gratitude! Students were so thoughtful in their
thank-you cards they wrote throughout the week celebrating American Education
Week! Thank you to the parents who were able to make it in to the Parent Buddy
Read. Also, thank you to all of the parents who arrived for Parent Teacher
Conferences.
Nottinghams Annual Canned Food Drive has started! We will be collecting
nonperishable food items in the front lobby of the office. Our goal is to surpass
last years total. These donations will go to families in need in Oxford. Thank you
for your support!

Writi ng
We are almost finished with our Monster in a Jar writing project. We will dive
deeper into the revising and editing process and write our published copies. Our
Unit 2 writing assignment is How To writing.

Math
We have started Chapter 5: Using Bar Models: Addition and Subtraction. In this
chapter, students will learn to solve word problems by applying addition concepts
(part-whole, adding on sets, comparing) and subtraction concepts (part-whole,
taking away, comparing) to solve two-step word problems on addition and
subtraction.

Students have worked so hard on their Unit 1 Benchmark Tests this
Thursday and Friday! It is a long process, and they persevered!

completing Thanksgiving themed literacy activities.
