Similarities:
Both types of waves have a speed, wavelength and frequency. Theyre both
mechanical waves, waves that require a medium to pass through.

Differences:
Transverse waves are where the particles of the medium move in a direction
perpendicular to the direction of propagation. Longitudinal waves are where the
particles oscillate parallel to the direction of propagation.

A cathode ray oscilloscope is used to observe the waveform of a wave, to
measure voltage, to compare frequencies and for time measurement. Its
advantages are that it can visually display in real time the crests and troughs of
a wave. You can locate and isolate other interfering signals too.
