1. List five types of modern fantasy stories and a key characteristic of each.
Modern folktales have the characteristics of folktales from the past,
but they do not have such strong cultural ties, and are written by
known authors of literature in the style of a folktale on purpose.
Animal fantasies are characterized by animals that are central to
the plot, and they are able to talk, feel, speak, and have emotions.
Worlds of little people stories are stories in which the authors create
worlds in which these little people have cultures of their own on a
miniature size, such as The Borrowers.
Historical Fantasy help the readers discover significant things from
the past, and show a relation or contrast to the present time
Quest stories are adventure stories that feature a search for
something as a significant motif.
