Semasa menyambut hari jadinya, Ali telah mengadakan satu majlis.

He was prepared some sweets for his friends with 6 sweets each.
Dia telah menyediakan beberapa gula-gula kepada kawan-kawannya dengan 6 biji setiap orang.

But, the party had 1 more participant. Therefore, he gave his friends 5 each but have 23 left.
Tetapi, terdapat 1 orang lebih untuk menghadiri majlisnya. Oleh itu, dia telah memberi 5 gula-gula untuk kawankawannya tetapi telah tinggal 23 biji gula-gula.

Hence, Ali has prepared how many sweets?

Analyzing Question:
Let the total number of sweets prepared is n and the total participant is x,
n sweets is given for x friends with 6 each.
6x=n (1m)
n-23 sweets is given for x+1 friends with 5 each.
5(x+1)=n-23
5x+5=n-23 (1m)
Before have more one participant, 6x=n.
After have one more participant, Therefore, 5x+5=n-23
Sub equation {6x=n} into {5x+5=n-23}
5x+5=6x-23 (1m)
28=x (1m)
As conclusion, total number of sweets, n=6x
Sub x=28 into n=6x
n=6 28
n=168 (1m)
Total number of sweets had prepared is 168.
