1. Why is it important to vigorously stir your solution of hexane and dilute sulfuric acid?

2. What compounds do you expect in the hexane filtrate and washes?

3. What compounds do you expect to remove from your solid by washing it with water?

5. What was the pure percent yield? (show your work and box your answer)

6. Draw the TLC plates you developed during the lab period.

7. By TLC, does it appear that the recrystallization increased the purity of your
product? Be specific with respect to the spots observed.

8. Is your crystalline product more or less polar than the starting alpha pinene oxide?
Does this make sense based on your understanding of the stoichiometry of the
