THURSDAY NOVEMBER 23
NO MEETING DUE TO MASTERS GOLF PARKING DUTIES

Last Thursday we all enjoyed the Beaumaris Theatre Companys production of One for the Pot. It was a farce of the very
English variety, with mistaken identities, hiding in cupboards,
multiple entrances and exits, country houses and the British
class structure. The energy shown by the company was palpable and the lead player needed the fitness of an athlete.
Thanks to Richard Jones for organizing the night.

Heather Chisholm and John Sime availed themselves of the

invitation extended to all members to attend a Board Meeting
last Tuesday. The highlights from the meeting were:
Approval to proceed with a global grant application for the
Sabu Schools Solar Project:
Approval to donate $1,500 to Sandringham Secondary
College to support the painting of a large mural, by the students, as part of the Sports Pavilion renovation;
Declination of club support of MUNA this year it was felt
that the scheme, though worthy in its intent, in its current form
no longer represented value for money.

National RAWCS NZ Earthquake Appeal

RAWCS has set up a National RAWCS NZ Earthquake Appeal.
The advantage of this process is to allow Rotarians and friends
to obtain a tax-deductible gift receipt, and to ensure all donors
only need to donate into the one account. The Project partner
is the NZ RAWCS equivalent Rotary New Zealand World Community Service (RNZWCS) and we will regularly release funds
into their account set up to support the NZ Earthquake needs as
required.
This will save you being involved in currency exchanges when
donating via RNZWCS.
Please see the attached How to donate document on page 8
If you wish to donate please go to;

https://donations.rawcs.com.au/Default.aspx?
ProjectNo=32&YearRegistered=2016-17

Bayside over the following four months.
The Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Hotels, recent success in the in the 2016 Brolga

The Croc has developed strong relationships with several local artists such as
Timothy Djandjomerr. Timothy originates from Mudginberri
in the Northern Territory and paints with grass which is
the stem of a freshwater reed with many fibres inside.
These are pared to the thickness required for his Skin
Group. The thickness of the lines and the way they are
applied are very important beside skin, they tell the Clan
and Country of the artist.
As with all these artists, Timothy paints the stories he was
given as a small child. He come from a rich heritage of artists and was taught to paint by his father who taught him about the history and life
through art and this was their way of sharing, remembering and understanding
country, culture and history.
Timothy Djandjomerr

All proceeds from the sale of the art will be donated by Beaumaris Rotary to local
community and indigenous projects. Buyers of the art will be supplied with a profile of the artist and a Certificate of Authenticity.

KOROSTELEV, YOUR SHOT
In the Azores, an archipelago
approximately 900 miles off the
coast of Portugal, a group of
sperm whales huddles beneath
the surface. While adult males
are solitary creatures when not
breeding, females and juveniles
assemble in pods of 10 to 20
members, often vocalizing and
touching each other when socializing, as seen here. The largest
toothed predator in the world,
sperm whales are a common
sight in the Azores, where they
congregate year-round.
