Partnership in Action

Neal Hughes
Director of Missions

This week we were blessed to see partnership in action

with Montgomery and the River Region hosting the Alabama
Baptist Convention.
Our ALSBOM team, under the
leadership of Dr. Rick Lance, did a fabulous job in directing
us, along with the inspiring leadership of President Travis
Coleman, Pastor of FBC Prattville. Hats off to Eastmont
Baptist Church as well as Heritage Baptist Church, who
hosted this years State Convention and Pastors Conference.
In addition, many of our MBA churches took care of several
convention related meetings.

Many Montgomery Baptists served in some capacity during these

November days in session. Whether it was acting as a host church, being on
a committee, participating as a messenger from your church, singing in the
choir, or serving as a volunteer in the parking lot, you all made our state
guests feel warmly welcomed. Thank you for being such good partners
with our partners.
There is another partnership in action which recently happened in our
River Region. In recent days, McGehee Road Baptist Church decided to
hand the ministry baton over to Engaged Christian Church, one of our
newest SBC congregations in the Montgomery Baptist Association. The
unselfish hand off of such a wonderful facility has positioned this
strategic corner of Montgomery to still be used as a light for the Lords
glory and the expansion of His kingdom. In addition, the McGehee Road
family has donated close to a million dollars to assist Southern Baptists and
other kingdom partners with the ongoing work of the gospel. With the help
of MBA and ALSBOM, as well as our Alabama Baptist Foundation, good
has come out of a difficult decision. Now thats partnership in action.
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to our brothers and sisters at McGehee
Road for their 37 years of ministry. We are also grateful that their legacy
will continue with the replant of the Engaged community at 2877
McGehee Road. Please be in prayer, as the last service for MRBC will be
November 20, and the first service for Engaged Church (at their new
campus) will be December 4.
Thank you for your prayers, participation and provision for kingdom work
through Montgomery Baptists. Mary and I are blessed to be living our lives
on mission with each of you!

Why We Have A Christmas Toy Sale Instead of a Giveaway

MBA Community Ministries seeks to help people be independent, have
integrity and dignity in moving out of poverty or difficult times. Our Annual
Toy Sale is a way to help families in need provide Christmas presents for their
children in a dignified and responsible manner. The parent has the opportunity
to choose gifts for their kids and pay for the toys themselves.
Toys are priced at a very low cost to the parent (all toys are $5
and under) and every penny is given back to the benevolence
of Forest Park Ministry Center and Community of Hope.
Parents who shop are made aware of how the money is used
after the sale to support these ministry efforts. For more
information on giving or volunteering, contact Lisa Rose at
271-6794 or email lrose@mgmbaptists.org.
