Tiger Families,
| want to begin by saying how proud | am of all of our
Tigers for completing a tremendously successful deployment
to Japan, | feel blessed to be the Commanding Officer of
such an incredible group of professionals. However, it's
certainly not lost on me that our Tigers couldn't do their jobs
without the support of their families and loved ones back
home. Thank you for all that you do!
Next, | want to say a heartfelt thank you to our outgoing
Ombudsmen and Tiger Support Group board members for
all of their hard work and dedication to our Tiger families,
especially on this recent deployment. Stefanie Eason and
Debbie Rutledge did a tremendous job serving as our
‘Ombudsmen and we wish you w
endeavors. On the TSG side, Marcia Hartwick, Christy
Lamm, and Laura Hersperger did a phenomenal job getting
our TSG up and running and helping our families on
deployment. We're very fortunate that Christy has decided
to continue serving our families by becoming our newest
Tiger Ombudsman. Thank you again to all of you and |
in all your future
wish our new TSG board the best of luck moving forward,
Finally, | want to wish all of you a very Happy Holiday
season, To help celebrate the holidays, VP-8 will be
hosting @ Turkey Burn on Wednesday, 23 Nov, as well as a
Children's Holiday Party on 10 Dec and the Squadron
Holiday Party on 15 Dec. These should be great events and
I'm looking forward to meeting many of you there. Beyond
that, I'm hopeful that everyone will take full advantage of the
upcoming time off to reconnect with their loved ones after a
long separation. Please travel safely and we'll see you
soon!

‘The OSC is soon going to be picking up steam
now that POM leave is over and everyone is
settled back in at home with their families. We
have a few meetings in the books coming up
and are looking forward to all of the holiday
get-togethers happening in the next few weeks.
Keep an eye out for some upcoming fundraisers
as we plan to discuss another family night out
event during the next meeting!
Thank you to everyone who came out to
support our Sweet Frog and Chick Fil A fund
raisers a few weeks back! It sure was fun to see
the turnout and to visit with you all!
Congrats to the families of all the new Tiger
Cubs as there have been many since my last
update! We are overjoyed with all of the little
additions to our squadron family! We have a few
amazing people moving on from our squadron
in the next few weeks and will be planning a
few farewells for them so please keep an eye out
for those plans!
Also, as this was my first deployment I want to
say a personal thank you to everyone in the
squadron for making it a successful one
especially the TSG for all of their hard work
putting together a wonderful "Over the Hump"
event and fabulous Homecoming for

Greetings Tiger Families,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome
home all of our loved ones after a long and
successful deployment. The holiday season is,
upon us, and we look forward to celebrating it
together. It is a time to truly be thankful for our
loved one’s safe return and for everything that
we have been given. This can also be a stressful
time for families, so please remember that if you
need financial help to get you through the
holiday season, there are many resources
available to you through Fleet and Family
Services

On a personal note, I would like to thank Debbie
Rutledge for all of her assistance over the last,

being said, I would like to take this opportunity
to welcome Christy Lamm as the newest VP-8
Ombudsman.

What is the Ombudsman Program?
The Ombudsman Program is a
command-operated program, intended to
improve communication between the command
and a Sailor's family members. Navy Family
Ombudsmen are communication links,
information and referral resources, and
advocates for command family members.
What are the functions of an Ombudsman?
An Ombudsman communicates regularly with
command families, provides information and
outreach to command families, provides
appropriate referral resources and acts as an
advocate for command families.
Who can use ombudsman services?
The ombudsman is a vital link between the
command and Navy families. In broader terms,
the Navy family is made up of all active-duty
and selected reserve Navy members, including
single and married service members, their
family members, the service member's parents,
siblings, and others at the discretion of the
