Glasgow Middle
School is officially
a middle school
On September 29th, Patty
Muir, Julia Cruse, and Michael
Hall conducted an on-site review
of the Glasgow Middle School
to determine the schools status
as a middle school, per the
requirements of the Administrative
Rules of Montana (ARM).
During the visit, the team
members met with Middle School
Principal Mike Zoanni and
members of the instructional and
support staff.
Glasgow Middle School has
made a strong commitment to
understanding and implementing
the middle school philosophy. Staff
members have had the opportunity
to visit accredited middle schools,
attend middle school conferences,
and engage in professional
dialogue with their peers and the
school administration.
Their observations concluded
that:
School leadership has a clear,
focused vision on the middle

Long track back

It was a long hunting hike in hopes of some ringneck roosters, but with no luck,
probably a seemingly longer back-track along the train tracks. These two fellows
are from Kentucky and, despite coming back to camp in Tampico empty-handed on
a breezy Saturday afternoon, were enjoying their stay here in northeast Montana.

A Moms touching story

My son Zachary, 4, came screaming out of the
bathroom to tell me hed dropped his toothbrush in
the toilet. So I fished it out and threw it in the garbage.
Zachary stood there thinking for a moment, then ran to
my bathroom and came out with my toothbrush.
He held it up and said with his charming little
smile We better throw this one out too then, cause
it fell in the toilet a few days ago.

school philosophy and is committed to providing the

professional development and resources necessary
for the success of the program.
School staff is well informed on the middle school
philosophy and is committed to implementing the
program with fidelity.
Homebase (Advisory) has been implemented and
is aiding in the development of the middle school
philosophy.
Grade-level team meetings have been implemented
on a limited basis, which is largely controlled by
scheduling issues with shared staff from the high
school.
Positive student relationships, consistent with
the goals of middle school education, are evident
throughout the school.
The following week, the visiting team recommended that
Glasgow Middle School be granted full accreditation
status as a middle school under the provisions of ARM
10.55.902(3).
Following the Montana Board of Public Education
board meeting on Friday morning where Michael Hall
presented a reccomendation on the Glasgow Middle
Schools behalf, he said, The conversation was good and
two board members specifically recognized the effort
that it took your school to shift to the middle school
philosophy, and was pleased to report that Glasgow
Middle School was accredited as a middle school.
Glasgow Superintendent of Schools, Bob Connors,
says, Congratulations to Mike Zoanni and his staff for
reaching this accreditation standard!

Fart in parliament:

Row blows
up in Canada
This past Friday,
when Conservative MP
Michelle Rempel accused
the Canadian government
of treating the province of
Alberta like a fart in the
room that nobody wants to
talk about or acknowledge
over jobs, Green Party
leader Elizabeth May took
exception.
However, it was not
the accusations of inaction
which riled Ms. May.
I heard her say a
word I know is distinctly
unparliamentary, and I think
she may want to withdraw
it, the shocked Ms. May
said. The word was f-a-r-t,
she continued, spelling it out
clearly so as not to repeat the
offending term.
Ms. Rempel, who has
represented Calgary Nose
Hill since 2011, became
equally incensed.
Is my colleague
actually serious? I just
gave an impassioned
speech about Alberta jobs,
and thats what the leader
of a political party stands
up and has to say? No, I
dont withdraw it.

Chips off the ol Uncle?

Hows this for Leksis first?

12-year-old Leksi Cook harvested her first-ever
buck, a tall and heavy-antlered 5x6 muley, while
hunting with her Dad Corey Cook in the St. Marie
vicinity. They spotted it from about 250 yards
away, and Leksi downed it with one shot with her
.223. I would have had buck fever, her Dad said,
but she just got out and wacked it. Leksi says
shes already planning on getting a bigger buck
next season, but her Dad warned her, I hope you
do, but it might not happen, sweetheart!

Yep, the Ennis Mustangs went undefeated this year,

capping off their perfect season with a 30-24 overtime
win over the Charlo Vikings in the Class C 8-man state
championship football game this past Saturday.

Two of the main contributors? Twin brothers playing in
their junior year, Tanner and Corbin Wood. Tanner is the
Mustangs starting quarterback and Corbin is one of his top
receiving targets. And theyre pretty awesome defensively, as
well.
To make a long story short, the Vikings tied the ball
game at 24-all with 40 seconds in regulation, and the game
would ultimately come down to overtime.

The Mustangs defense held strong in overtime, keeping
Charlo off the scoreboard. Tanner Wood then found his twin
brother Corbin in the end zone. Corbin had to leap high for
the catch, but came down with it and Ennis had a 30-24 win.
There are probably a few in Glasgow aware of the fact
that these twins are the sons of Barbie Wood. If not, lets just
clue you in that Barbie was a Halverson and a Glasgow High
School graduate before being becoming Barbie Wood.

And that would make Tanner and Corbin the nephews of
Chip Halverson, whose final football game of his outstanding
high school career was Glasgows 27-0 white-washing of
Whitefish in the Class A State Championship to cap a perfect
11-0 season in 1986, the last time the Scotties won a state title.
