ADRIAN TAN Artistic Director Singaporean conductor Adrian Tan has established a reputation as one of the leading conductors of his generation. As the Music Director of the Singapore Wind Symphony and the Braddell Heights Symphony Orchestra since 2012. he has been recognized for his dynamic leadership. innovative programming. impactful community outreach initiatives and passionate advocacy for new music. especially on the behalf of Singaporean compos~ ers. In 2014, he was named Music Director of the Saigon Philharmonic Orchestra in Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam and also became one of the founders of the Musicians Guild of Singapore whose mission is to promote the professional interests of working musicians.Graduating with honours in Theatre Studies from the National University of Singapore. he dedicated the first decade of his professional life to the Republic of Singapore Navy where he served as a Naval Officer whilst pursuing his passion for the arts as an amateur theatre directorlproducer and a conductor of community musical ensembles. His conducting teachers include Harold Farberman. Robert Gutter. Ovidiu Balan. Jan Cober, Neil McEwan, Gunther Herbig and Tsung Yeh. As a recipient of the NAC Overseas Scholarship in 2009. he attended the Sydney Conservatorium of Music for postgraduate studies in conducting with Imre Pallo and Apo Hsu who would become his most important professional mentors.
