What job are you applying for?

Assistant Ticketing Box Office Manager

Tell Us About Yourself

This is your opportunity to tell us why you are interested in this post, and what you can bring to the role and to our business.
I have been very keen to work front of house for a West End theatre for a very long time, I enjoy the experience of the theatre
and frequently visit. I also have a passion for customer service and working with the general public, every customer is different
and has many questions, and I find that the most exciting as no day at work will be the same. I treasure the experience of going
into London to see a play or musical, and I would very much like to be a part of that experience for the paying audience when
they first step through the door, and when they leave after the show.
In previous work I have begun to start assisting the managers in training and informing the new staff that has arrived to the
building, although I have never had an official job title as a leader it is an area of interest I am experienced in and would like to
pursue. I feel confident in assisting and instructing others in a busy environment to create quick customer service that receives
positive feedback. Through a collaboration of my previous jobs I feel I am a strong candidate to join the team and keep
improving the high standard that the Lyceum Theatre has to offer. I bring a lot of passion and energy to work with me every
day, I invest a lot of myself into work and do it all with a smile. I find as a leader I can boost morale and help inspire other staff
members, I enjoy work and will always keep in a positive mind set.
I am very organised, and having to deal with thousands of patients records I have always had to be on top of shelving and
keeping files in alphabetical order. Also to add that I use the same organisation on computer software. I am very experienced in
online booking systems, dealing with either the customer in person or over the phone. Computers and telephones do not faze
me, and I am quick to resolve if ever there is a computer error.
Dealing with the general public I have dealt with on a daily basis, for the majority of the time it has been a positive experience
and I have been successful in generating great customer satisfaction when assisting the public. Although I have faced challenges
of dealing with people who have not been so happy or upset, and this I have sorted myself before in the past and worked to the
best of my ability to resolve the matter.
To conclude I feel although I am young I have gained a lot of experience from having a vast variety of jobs, and I would be
thrilled to be able to combine my passion for the theatre and love of work together. I can promise you that I will always be
reliant and a valued member of the team, as my reputation is know in my previous line of jobs. I will always bring lots of energy
to the work environment and assist in making everyday successful for each individual customer and employee that walks into
the Lyceum Theatre.

Making Theatre Magic

In your opinion, what makes theatre magic, and how can the role you are applying for make a difference?
I personally feel that in the U.K. we are blessed with the high standard of talent we hold in the theatrical industry, people fly
from overseas just to buy a ticket to one of our prestigious theatres in Londons West End.
Although the audience are paying to see the actors on stage, it is the whole experience of going to the theatre that is
memorable for the public, starting from when they first purchase a ticket. It is important that in the box office we create the
great first impression as it is the beginning of their experience. If they are talking to a friendly member of staff who takes the
time to find the best seat for the best price for the customer it already begins to generate the excitement for their experience.
Travelling to the theatre can be a long journey for some, and so once they arrive at the theatre they want to be greeted by
friendly staff members who can make each customer feel special as they arrive to collect their tickets, finally giving them access
to the high standard of performance the U.K. has to offer.
I think being a part of their first contact with the theatre is the most vital as it sets the tone for their experience. Especially for a
show like the Lion King, it is many childrens first time in a large theatre and when they grow up what they remember. I think it
is important to make it the best opportunity for them as they arrive as the theatre is a luxury entertainment but it is up to every
employee in the theatre to make that happen.
So to finish I think the entire experience of the theatre is magic in itself, and I feel as assistant ticketing box office manager it is
important to make sure all staff are offering the best first impression for our audience so that their time with us will always be a
memorable one.
