Financial Updates

Need to acknowledge when students are open enrolled into your district. Needs to
happen by Aug 1. MDE will get involved and block the student in MAARS if serving
district hasnt sent acknowledgment.
Medical Assistance Funds
Can be used to pay for the person who is entering billing - cannot then be coded
to 400.

Benefit a kid with an IEP - teacher salary, benefits - also eligible for SPED aid
Non-licensed subs - coded to 400

Can pay for job shadowing, work-place visits, informational interviews, activities

Who Can Participate?
All kids living in Minnesota (public school, home school, non-public)
11th and 12th graders
Some 10th graders
Student has to give up one class - no limits on PSEO credits. College
can stop them.
You do not have to have the approval of the school district for world
language classes for 9th and 10th graders
Course is eligible for PSEO if it is available in
PSEO has to be college level
Deadlines for when the process should be started
Theres nothing in the law that prevents students from enrolling late
Participation Limits
9th graders can participate for 4 years if they meet eligibility requirements,
10th - 3 year, 11th - 2 years, 12th - 1 year
PSEO aid is available for students for multiple years if the district
determines that the student is not on track to graduate.
Special Ed should not be paying for tuition - sped could pay for additional
supports
PSEO coursework should align with a student's measurable post-secondary goal
Embed course into course of study
Funds are available for transportation for student at or below the poverty line (see
MDE website)
