Dear Resident:

The Tar Heels have succeeded in advancing to the National Championship game and will face off against Michigan State on
Monday night. Traditionally this has been a time when many people throughout the area visit downtown to celebrate. Our
proximity to Franklin Street and past experiences require us to take certain precautions to ensure everyones safety and to
protect the property. Granville Management has worked with our staff and the Chapel Hill Police Department to prepare for this
event. We would like to take this opportunity to share with you information that may affect you and your guests so the
Championship game will be an enjoyable experience for all:

Dependent upon crowd size in and around Franklin Street, the CHPD has plans in place to close Franklin St. through
Mallette St. on Monday, April 6th in preparation for victory celebrations. This will affect both entrances into Granville
Towers. The only entrance that will remain open will be the alley behind the East Tower (Fetzer Lane). Management
strongly encourages residents to park their vehicles elsewhere if they need to access it during these times, but do not
park at University Square as you will be towed.
Uniformed and undercover law enforcement personnel (CHPD; ALE) will be making rounds throughout the property
and Franklin Street during the night. They will issue citations for open container violations, underage drinking, etc. and
will report all incidents involving UNC students to the Office of the Dean of Students.
If you plan to have guests over for the Championship game, you MUST register no more than four (4)
guests by emailing Allison Kenney, Assistant General Manager, the following information by Monday,
April 6 at noon:
o Your full name
o Your room number
o Name(s) of your guest(s)
Other Important Information to Note:
o Regardless of whether your guest is spending the night or just visiting for an hour, he/she still needs
to be registered.
o The Granville Towers management staff and RA staff will be on duty and touring the halls during this time.
You will be subject to disciplinary actions for rule violations, so please confine your and your guests activities
to your room. Please remember that alcohol is not permitted in any common areas (i.e. hallways, stairwells,
lounges, lobbies, elevators) in Granville for any person of any age.
o You are responsible for your guests conduct. Non-residents will be trespassed from Granville Towers for rule
violations (including open containers of alcohol), and you will be subject to disciplinary actions if they are your
guests.
o Each resident will only be permitted to register up to four (4) guests, and these guests MUST be escorted by
their hosting resident AT ALL TIMES.
o A list for each tower will be compiled of registered guests and only guests on this list, with a VALID PHOTO
ID, will be permitted inside. For example, if you register a guest in the West Tower, they will only be on the
guest list for West and will not be able to enter South or East unless a resident of those towers registers them
for that tower.
o Granville residents will need their Granville Towers ID to enter the buildings.
o Security officers will begin checking IDs promptly at 7 PM on April 6. Non-registered guests will be asked to
leave the property by management.
The hallways and emergency stairwells are not for congregating or socializing. This is extremely important in the event
of an emergency, since all exits must remain clear. The Chapel Hill Fire Dept. has instructed us to keep the stairwells
free at all times. In addition, study lounges will be locked after the game.
It is our wish that everyone has a good time and remains SAFE. Unfortunately, in the past we have had costly property damage,
residents assaulted by outsiders, and other problems that occur when a large group of non-residents and non-UNC students
feel that there are no consequences for their unlawful actions. We want everyone to enjoy watching the Tar Heels; however, it is
important that residents and their guests respect those around them as well as Granville property at all times.

We thank you for your anticipated cooperation and hope that you have an enjoyable time cheering the Tar Heels on to victory! If
you have any questions, please feel free to see your RA or Tower Manager.

Go Heels!

Allison Kenney
