These benchmarks were created with advanced non-parametric statistical methods increasing
accuracy by:
1. Considering all teams in a given conference or multiple conferences
2. Incorporating player to player variability
3. Ignoring players with little playing time or few touches
Furthermore, we created benchmarks for an average player (60th percentile), a good player (80th
percentile), and an elite player
(90th percentile).

Kills % and Hitting Eciency [ (kills blocked errors) / attempts ]

Both Kills % and hitting eciency are extremely correlated with the type of set a player is hitting.
Consequently,
most coaches correctly believe we should be looking at this metric by type of set. It is a common
nding that
in system sets (perfect and good passthe setter does not have to move much) generally have

Passing eciency [ (Perfect + good overpass errors) / attempts ]

Passing eciency is a good metric to substitute the 3 point scale or 4 point scale and still very
easy tocalculate as a Perfect pass would be a 4, a Good pass would be a 3, etc.The following
breakdowns is an overall breakdown combining 4 major NCAA DI conferences. Benchmarks
