1. Aims and Objectives:
To introduce the fundamental mathematical
methods for business studies.
To understand about mathematical model and its
applications in business management.
To introduce to the students of this course the basic
mathematical tools to understand the mathematical
concepts and techniques widely used in
Economics, Accounting, Finance, Marketing and
other social sciences.
Students will be able to communicate their
understanding as appropriate with calculation,
words, diagrams and graphs.

Introduction for useful mathematical model in business and managerial decisions.


The main difference between Mathematical and Statistical models.
General linear equation and their characteristics.
To develop a linear equation under the given resources and assumptions.
Important components of linear equation.
Techniques to solve systems of linear equations. (various methods)
Concepts of linear function.
Fundamental concepts of mathematical function or linear function
Business applications of linear functions such as break even analysis
Use of linear equation in revenue, profit and cost functions
Quadratic and polynomial functions
Concept of Matrix Algebra and application approach by system of linear equation.
Difference b/w matrix and determinants
Rules of matrix and determinants

6. Structure of Examination Papers:


6.1

Final Examination Paper: Final examination paper consists of Objective and


Subjective Sections as given below:

6.2

6.1.1 Objective Section:

This section comprise of 1st question of paper with


ranging from 7.5 to 10 marks, consists of MCQs and
True / False Statement scenarios.

6.1.2 Subjective Section:

This section comprise of 3 to 4 questions of paper with


ranging from 30 to 32.5 marks, may consists of
description, mini case study, exercise questions of
different combinations of mark distribution.

Mid-Term Examination Paper: Mid Term Examination Paper also consists of


Objective and Subjective Sections as given below:

6.2.1 Objective Section:

This section comprise of 1st question of paper of 5


marks, consists of MCQs and True / False Statement
scenarios.

6.2.2 Subjective Section:

This section comprise of 3 to 4 questions of paper of 20


marks, may consists of description, mini case study,
exercise questions of different combinations of mark
distribution.

6.3 Quizzes: 3 - 4 quizzes will be conducted during the whole Fall 2013 Semester.
(n -1) quizzes policy will be effective for this semester, each quiz comprise of 5 marks.
Note:
If a student absent in any quiz, then s/he has a chance to participate in other quizzes but
in case if a student miss more than one quizzes, then s/he has to provide me authentic
proof regarding his /her absentees in this connection and so his /her performance judge on
the basis of mid term and final examinations.

7. Assignments:
Throughout the semester, I provide you different assignments of different marks of
different form like presentations / exercises / mini case studies. You have to fulfill all
the deadlines of all assignments.
If you fail to submit any deadline of a particular assignment, then 25% marks will be
deducted.

8. Attendance:
75% attendance required to be sitting in Mid term and Final
Examination of Fall 2013 Semester. I distribute
attendance marks as given below:
