We, (The Flourishing Families research group) authorize Christopher Ferguson of
Stetson University to access the data reported in the following manuscript: Coyne, S. M. (2016). Effects of viewing relational aggression on television on aggressive behavior in adolescents: A three-year longitudinal study, Developmental Psychology, 52, 284-295. Pursuant to the terms in this letter, we will provide the data necessary to replicate the analyses reported in the manuscript above. A rate of $300 per hour will be charged to compile the data and to de-identifty the dataset. Per APA policy, access of the data is restricted only to replication of the analyses analyses hypotheses/conclusions reported in the paper above. According to APA policy, the purpose of sharing research data for verification is to seek to verify the substantive claims through reanalaysis and who intend to use such data only for that purpose (APA 8.14 Sharing research data for verification). Dr. Ferguson is not authorized to conduct any additional analyses test new hypotheses or any additional analyses not reported in Coyne (2016) using this dataset. and is not authorized to publish any findings using this dataset without the express permission of the Flourishing Families group. Dr. Ferguson agrees that any attempts to publish the replication will be undertaken irrespective of the results. If publication of a replication is desired, Dr. Ferguson is required will extendt the courtesy to contact the author, Dr. Sarah M. Coyne, to discuss the issue further, and, as appropriate, contact the editor of Developmental Psychology to issue an erratum. prior to publication. If the results of the replication do not match the original study, Dr. Ferguson will suggest to the editor of any journal in which the replication is published, that Dr. Coyne be invited to publish a response. After speaking with the APA Journals Publisher, we have confirmed that Dr. Coyne is able to share her data with Dr. Ferguson to comply with ethical standards, which means to follow the original contract we provided allowing reuse for direct replication, following the original procedures. We expect that Dr. Ferguson will provide attribution to the original article in which the data appeared. Additionally, if Dr. Ferguson does not comply with the contract, we will be forced to seek recourse by either filing an ethics complaint with the American Psychological Association and/or contacting the Dean of Dr. Fergusons program and university. Any breach of this contract will be reported to the American Psychological Association.
