Portrait photography is the oldest type of photography.


Before the invention of cameras portrait painting was used. This was all
about capturing a persons likeness and was highly based on social
status and wealth as poor families couldn't afford this luxury. When
cameras were first invented they were still used for this same purpose.
It was different from modern usage of photography. Now we use
photography to capture emotions events and feelings but before this was
not the case as the subjects had to keep still and rigid.
Now we use photography in different ways.
